Our research isn't finished on this location, but I would like to share a preview from this investigation (or rather, part one of the investigation) because we had such incredible results.
This is the unfiltered recording we got:
Mill Preview
The male voice says "It's not too far to the trail." Keep in mind this is UNFILTERED. Great stuff! |

We now have a filtered version of the preview EVP posted earlier. There will be more to come soon!
Mill Filtered
We are having a little trouble determining if in fact the last word is trail... We suspect that it is because there is a secret trail close to where we were recording, but we would also like to hear what else it could be! |

When listening to the filtered version, this is what I heard:
"It's not too far up there, at my parent's house."
Let me know what you think.

I don't remember hearing that many syllables, Lodi, but it's very possible. My hearing's lousy too (you know that).
I'll have to have a listen again when I can get together with Jessica to hear it one more time. I can definitely see "It's not too far up there" though. That makes sense. Though I thought it might have been "It's not too far to the trailer." |

| we forgot to mention that the "at my parents' house" is becki talking. during the recording, we were sure to leave long pauses. this EVP was picked up right before becki started talking, so the last bit of the EVP blends into her voice. we're sure it's not leo ro someone else talking, because a) it sounds nothing like anyone else in the group, and b) becki went on to ramble about the stars at her parents' house, which has nothing to do with a trail. |

That doesn't surprise me. Becky seems to ramble a lot!
What does it mean if the voices you catch on EVP aren't really responding to anything that you're saying though? |

EVP's don't need to respond to what you are saying...They could just be random, or they could be trying to tell you something...You probably already know that and maybe i misunderstand your question, but i am at work, and im trying to quickly do this, so i will read over it and edit as i need. |

Sorry to but in here, BUT........
What it says is "It's not to far up ahead .....?"
Can't understand after ahead.
Played it in Windows Media Player and tweaked the EQ in it to make the voice a little clearer.

Nice to have you here, Jay
The problem with the EVPs is that they sound different depending on the equiptment you're using to listen to them. I stand by "It's not too far to the trail" because originally I heard "It's not too far to the trailer." Now I actually find that a bit funny, because I can't imagine why someone would be talking about a trailer out at the old mill.
If you're hearing "It's not too far ahead..." then you're still pretty much hearing the whole thing because you're only short one syllable. In short, you aren't missing anything. I'm not the "sound person" around here, and I am NOT good at tweaking, but I can try to see if I hear the same thing when I get a chance.
Welcome! |

Becki:
Listening more closely I can just make out
"It's not to far ahead where (they <> Me)"
I can just hear the ME as the girl starts to speak.
WHERE is pretty clear but the THEY is kind of half muffled.
Could it be (they buried) or (they killed)
Or even (they hanged)?????
I'm using a pair of Ipod headphones. They seem to pick up more Ferq. then other Headphones.

JaY,
We've been using a relatively inexpensive set of headphones. It might be a thought to pick up something of higher quality to see if we can hear anything different.
Particularly if you consider the OTHER Mill EVP (the "snap your neck" EVP) "killed" would make for something fairly interesting. |

Becki:
This may be true but, the headphones I'm using is made to listen to a wide margain of media. Higher quality Headphones seems to lean more tword the Lower side of the Freq. scale (More Bassy). The EVPs seems to run in the Higher Freq. (More treble).
A good way to practice hearing the voices....Take a song and pick an instrument that is in the background, tune out all the other ones and only (try to) follow the one you picked. Try to hear all the notes that it's making. The more you practice the easier it gets to tune out all the other noise and the better you can hear only those notes.
